Introduction: Brett Bardwell
My name is Brett Bardwell and I am a senior at Bowling Green State University. I am from Swanton, Ohio, a small town about fifteen minutes west of Toledo. I am majoring in sport management with a minor in journalism. When I was growing up I played all kinds of sports. As a kid I played soccer, hockey, football, basketball, baseball, and golf. Once I got to high school I decided to play only basketball and baseball, but after freshman year I focused solely on baseball. I played three years of varsity baseball at St. John's Jesuit. My favorite sports teams include all of the Detroit professional teams, Ohio State Buckeyes football, and Duke Blue Devils basketball.
The male athlete that I would pay to see is Sidney Crosby, center and captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL. The main reason I chose him is because I have been fortunate enough to see some of the more famous athletes. I have seen LeBron James in both high school and the pros, Kevin Durant, Calvin Johnson, and many others at Detroit sports games. I have been to numerous Detroit Red Wings games, but have never attended one against the Pittsburgh Penguins. What I appreciate about Crosby is his knowledge of the game. He gets so many goals and assists because he knows where he is supposed to be and can see plays happen before they actually do. In a sport that is as compact and fast as hockey this is very important. I feel that, right now, there is no argument as to who the best player in the NHL is; it is most certainly Crosby.
The female athlete that I would pay to see is Serena Williams. I noticed in class that she was the most popular pick, and I think that comes with good reasons. I feel that the argument could be made that she is one of the most dominant female athletes of all time, if not the greatest. The things that she has been able to accomplish are incredible. I think that there is such a great difference to her best game than any of the other competitors right now. I have no doubt that she would be able to defeat any other player's best game if she plays her best game.
